Slip-On Mop Cover With Super Bulky Yarn

Posted: March 3, 2020 by admin

Welcome to the Slip-On Mop Crochet pattern using super bulky yarn. This is a sister pattern to my pattern Dry/Wet Mop Cover. I love making reusable items, it makes me feel good and it’s cost-effective. I’m also a big fan of super bulky yarn and how it makes a project work up quickly. The most popular pattern on my blog is my Dry/Wet Mop Cover and I’ve had this sister pattern around for a while and now I’m excited to release it.

This pattern is in the Simple Kitchen E-book and all will be released as free patterns however you can find them all in one convenient PDF. Here are the patterns that are included:

Note: I’ll update the links as blog posts are created for each of them

Materials:

Yards/Ounces:

  • I used 2.5 oz/71 g or 53 y/48 m. I used Yarnspirations Bernat Blanket Yarn

Skill Level:

Beginner

Size:

One Size

Gauge:

4 x 4 inches = 10 hdc x 6.5 rows of hdc

Dimensions:

Width of the bottom is 11 inches and the height is 6 inches.

Abbreviations:

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

sl st = slip stitch

Notes:

  • Chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
  • I recommend using super bulky yarn but you could use two or three strands of cotton yarn too.
  • Use a stitch marker at the beginning of row to see ch 1.

Pattern:

With yarn and L/8.0 mm hook.

Row 1: Ch 13, hdc in 2nd stitch from hook, hdc in each stitch across. Turn work. (12 hdc)

Row 2 – 29: Ch 1, hdc in each stitch. Turn work. (12 hdc)

Fasten off a tail to sew in.

You now have a long rectangle and will fold ends in to create secured ends.

Fold ends with 5 rows or 3.5 inches folded over on both sides.

Use stitch markers to holds sides together, with top of mop cover facing you attach yarn in the right corner through both sides. Ch 1, sc through both sides, sc evenly to the other side and sc through both sides on other ends too.

Fasten off a tail to sew in.

Flip mop cover over and repeat on the other side.

Turn inside out, pull loose ends through and sew in loose ends.

I hope you get many, many happy cleanings using your Slip-On Mop Cover! You can find the Simple Kitchen E-Book HERE. You can also Pin this project for later HERE!
