Crocheted Cacti Beanies

Would you like to make your own Crocheted Cactus Beanie? A few years ago, I had a special request for a cactus beanie and I came up with this pattern. I’m super excited to share my Free Crocheted Cactus Beanie Pattern. It’s super fun and easy to make, works up from the brim up, and available in 5 sizes: new born, 6-18 months, toddler, youth and adult sizes.

My sons are in love with these so they are gender neutral and you can play around by adding different color pom poms and/or flowers. The flower pattern can be worked up in a variety of hook sizes, I used hook sizes H and on these beanies.

In the New Born style, I created the option of using 2 colors by carrying the Bone color behind. This can be done in any of the sizes. You will change colors on the 2nd double crochet and then back at the end of the front post double crochet. So, when you yarn over and pull through the 2nd time in making your double crochet to complete your double crochet is when you switch color. You crochet over the yarn carried behind so it creates a virtually invisible color change in between color changes. When creating body, you’re chain 2 will count as a stitch. This is designed to create an invisible join. Depending on the style you will start you brim in counts of 3 or 4. The chain 2 is included in the total number of stitches.
