Quill Scarf

Posted: February 3, 2022 by Tonja Pe Benito

Hello, chilly weather! How’s the weather with you? I know many think Hawai’i doesn’t get cold but when the winter months arrive and the temperature in the airdrops is 30 degrees cooler than we are used to, we get cold. I got to work with Lion Brand Yarn Skein Tones again and I wanted to design a beautifully textured scarf to capture the gorgeous colors.  I am delighted to introduce the Quill Scarf as my next pattern and honored you can find the kit available at Lion Brand Yarn. Also, this is a free pattern and a low-cost PDF with written instructions is available in my Shop and Ravelry.
This is a pattern that uses the Feather Stitch and is repetitive. Once you get the hang of it you can just repeat. Changing colors is optional so if you have enough yarn to make the scarf solid, I say go for it.
I love Skein Tones in Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling Yarn, the colors are absolutely amazing.  The color options for the Quill Scarf kit are available at Lion Brand Yarn!

A little about Skein Tones:
“Skein Tones offers a modern neutral palette aiming to complement a wide spectrum of skin tones. The collection of colors is part of the Basic Stitch® Anti-Pilling family, a very versatile 100% acrylic CYC4. Makers who gravitate towards creating garments that will integrate into their wardrobes often turn to neutral colors, and many who choose colorwork projects need a neutral to balance the bolder hues. By having a 12-color palette of nuanced neutral options you no longer have to settle for an “almost” complement to your color selections.” – Lion Brand Yarn

Use larks head knots to attach two strands on every st across to short end of scarf in Color order; A, B, C, D, E, F, repeating 4 times and ending with Color A. To do so, with RS facing you, fold length in half, insert crochet hook, pull folded loop through st, use hook to grab ends, and pull them through folded loop. Pull knot snug. Rep in every other st and trim fringe evenly.

I hope you’re keeping your mind calm and getting plenty of rest as the holidays are around the corner. Don’t forget that crocheting is a great way to unwind and decompress. I hope you love this pattern!
