Crochet Bulky Simple Hot Pad

Welcome to the Crochet Bulky Simple Hot Pad pattern. How about a fun quick project? The Bulky Simple Hot Pad is just that, it uses three strands of yarn and works up in a flash. I used three strands of yarn for this pattern because the extra strand of yarn makes the hot pad a little more sturdy and the color options are endless. You can choose from one color, two colors or three colors. The color options are up to you!

Gauge: 

4 x 4 inches = 10 hdc x 6 rows of hdc with 3 strands of yarn.

Dimensions:

Diameter 9 inches

Abbreviations:   

ch = chain  

sl st = slip stitch   

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

 

Notes:
  • This pattern works in a continuous round so you need to use a stitch marker to mark the end of rows.
  • This pattern uses 3 strands of yarn, preferably worsted weight 100 % cotton yarn.

Pattern: 

 

With 3 strands of yarn.

Round 1: Using a magic ring, ch 1, hdc 7, place SM. (7 hdc)

Round 2: 2hdc in each stitch around to SM. (14 hdc)

Round 3: *Hdc,  2hdc*. Repeat * to * around to SM. (21 hdc)

Round 4: *Hdc 2, 2hdc*. Repeat * to * around to SM. (28 hdc)

Round 5: *Hdc 3, 2hdc*. Repeat * to * around to SM. (35 hdc)

Round 6: *Hdc 4, 2hdc*. Repeat * to * around to SM. Remove SM and sl st to next stitch. (42 hdc)

Round 7: Ch 1, *sc, 2sc*. Repeat * to * around. Sl st to 1st sc. (42 sc)

Fasten off a tail to sew in.
