Plushy Cacti PillowsHave you seen my free pattern for a Crocheted Plushy Cactus Pillow? Would you love to snuggle up to a Crocheted Plushy Potted Cactus Pillow? Cacti and Bernat Blanket Yarn are a perfect combination. A Crocheted Plushy Potted Cactus Pillow is the 5th addition to my patterns for crocheted plushies. As a cactus and crochet lover I love having these on our beds and couch. These would make an excellent gift for any cactus lover in your life.

This is an easy and fun pattern that works up fast. You work up the front and back and then surface slip stitch on the front to add texture. You can knot your ends on the wrong side of the two sides so there’s no sewing in ends. You add a cute oversized flower using my pattern for a Crocheted Layered Flower Pattern and complete by single crocheting around.

Materials Needed:

Cactus:

MAKE 2

Using L Hook & Lemon Lime Yarn, CH 31

Row 1: SC in 2 stitch from hook, SC across,  CH 1. (30 SC)

Row 2 – 19: Repeat Row 1.

Row 20: 1 SC, 1 SC TOG. Continue this across and you will have 20 SC. CH 1. (20 SC)

Row 21 – 22: SC across, CH 1. (20 SC)

Row 23: 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC TOG, continue this across and you will have 15 SC. CH 1. (15 SC)

Row 24: SC across (15 SC)

Row 25: 1 SC, 1 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC TOG, continue across and you will have 12 SC. Leave a little tail and fasten off. (12 SC)

Now turn your cactus upside down as you’re going to make the pot by crocheting directly on to the bottom.

Important step: On the left side you need to make chains to extend your row. Attached Pumpkin Spice to your left side of bottom of cactus while cactus is upside down. Chain 3 and fasten off.

On right side on bottom of cactus while it’s upside down, attached Pumpkin Spice and Chain 4.

Row 1: In 2nd chain from hook SC, SC across, CH 1. You should have 36 SC. (36 SC)

Row 2 – 7: Repeat row 1.

Row 8: SC TOG, SC across, SC TOG in last 2 stitches. (34 SC)

Row 9: SC TOG, SC across, SC TOG in last 2 stitches. (32 SC)

Row 10: SC TOG, SC across, SC TOG in last 2 stitches. (30 SC)

Row 11: SC TOG, SC across, SC TOG in last 2 stitches. (28 SC)

Fasten off.

Choose one of your two pieces for the front. You’re going to add surface slip stitches to add some texture. I made 5 surface stitch rows, curved them evenly and left some space between end of surface slip stitch and top.

Top view flower on crocheted potted cactus.Make a flower using my Crocheted Layered Flower Pattern, a L Hook and Bernat Blanket Yarn in Baby Pink. Leave a tail to sew your flower on. Sew Flower on.

ASSEMBLY:

To assemble you’re going to SC edges of both pieces together. You can add fill as you go and then give a little extra stuff before your last stitches.

Start on the bottom on your cactus a few stitches up from bottom. Attach Lemon Lime through both pieces. Have on hand a little bit of Warm Brown or Sand color Bernat Blanket Yarn for your dirt. Single crochet to corner and switch to Warm Brown, 3 SC will give you your dirt, then switch to Pumpkin Spice at corner of pot. 2 SC on corners will give a rounded flat look when complete. Continue around pot in Pumpkin Spice, switching back to Warm Brown for 3 SC and switch to Lemon Lime all around Cactus.

I like to knot and weave my end in the back and them tuck them in the pillow so there’s no show of them.
