Free Pattern Crocheted Chain Cable Pumpkin

Posted: October 19, 2019 by admin

The air is cooling off, the days are getting shorter and my kids are begging for candy. This the season for all things pumpkin. I love seeing all the Fall home decor in department stores however it’s way more fun to make my own. I’ve combined my love of pumpkins and super bulky yarn to make this free pattern, Crocheted Chain Cable Pumpkin.
The Crocheted Chain Cable Pumpkin uses a chain cable stitch which is a lot easier than you think. I found this great tutorial and video Chain Cables Stitch Crochet Tutorial by Winding Road Crochet.

If you love the Handmade Pumpkin tags, my friend Anna @theknottyboss makes them and you can find them in her Etsy shop!

Assembly:

With right side of pumpkin facing each other, using a whip stitch, sew sides together. Turn work right side out. You will now have a dome shaped project with an opening on the top and the bottom. With the tail you just used sew the opening up by weaving yarn in and out around hole. Pull Yarn closed, sew in end and fasten off.

Flip Pumpkin over and stuff with polyfill. Cut a long piece of yarn about 24 inches. Now using your tapestry needle and yarn down through center and out the bottom center. Pull yarn and running outside of pumpkin (between chain cables) put through top center again. Pull tight and you’ll see the edging form. Repeat as many times as you desire. On your last pull through center you will end on bottom knot ends together. Use a tapestry needle to pull back up through center and fasten any long ends.

Using a got glue gun, carefully put a nice amount of glue on end of stick or branch  and place on top center of pumpkin.
