Simple Produce Crochet Bag

Welcome to the Simple Produce Crochet Bag pattern. I’ve designed many bags like the Ulana Bag, Mermaid Market Bag, and Hoku Tote Bag. I was inspired to design a quick and simple bag that was just the right size to hold produce in. I will use my Simple Produce Bags for onions, oranges, potatoes, avocadoes and whatever else I can find in season. These are great to take to the market and use at check out to put your produce in rather than use plastic bags. These are also the perfect size for small lunches or snacks on the go. There’s so many uses for this bag!

Gauge: 

4 x 4 inches = 12 dc x 8 rows of dc

Dimensions:

Laying flat, 10.5 inches wide and 9.5 inches tall.

Abbreviations:   

ch = chain  

sl st = slip stitch   

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double

dc = double crochet

Notes:
  • Chain 2 does not count as a stitch.
  • You can substitute 2 strands with worsted or lightweight cotton.

Pattern: 

Round 1: Using a magic ring, ch 2, dc 10, sl st to 1st dc. (10 dc)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2dc in each stitch around. Sl st to 1st dc. (20 dc)

Round 3: Ch 2, *dc,  2dc*. Repeat * to * around. Sl st to 1st dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, *dc 2, 2dc*. Repeat * to * around. Sl st to 1st dc. (40 dc)

Round 5: Ch 2, *dc 3, 2dc*. Repeat * to * around. Sl st to 1st dc . (50 dc)

Round 6: Ch 1, *dc 4, 2dc*. Repeat * to * around. Sl st to 1st dc. (60 dc)

Round 7: Ch 2, dc in each stitch around. Sl st to 1st dc. (60 dc)

Round 8 – 18:  Repeat Round 7.

Round 19: Ch 1, hdc in each stitch around and sl st to 1st hdc. (60 hdc)

Round 20: Ch 1, sc 9, ch 12, skip 12 stitches, sc 18, ch 12, skip 12 stitches, sc 9 and sl st to 1st sc. (36 sc & 2 ch-12)

Round 21: Ch 1, sc 9, sc 12 into ch-12, sc 18, sc 12 into ch-12, sc 9 and sl st to 1st sc (60 sc)

Round 22 – 23: Ch 1, sc 60 around and sl st to 1st sc. ( 60 sc)

Fasten off a tail to sew in.
